Muslim Ghetto Survival Guide

Testimonials

A modern treasure brimming with evidence from the Sunnah and the Quran. An examination of the dark side of hip-hop culture. This is an essential manual for community leaders, educators, and parents working with young people.

Allahumma Barik. So far have read about 50 pages.

Some really good points.
For example, "in school, you're given a lesson than a test. In life, you're given a test than you learn the lessons".
It's so important that you pointed out that environmental factors are one of the real origins of our behaviors!
This truly is profound, "someone needs to study the evil trends of society and warn the Ummah so they know what's going on so they can be prepared for the fitna".
"I learned about evil, not for the sake of doing evil things, but rather for the sake of avoiding them".
"It's easier to build strong children, than to repair broken men!". FIRE!!!

Muslim Ghetto Survival Guide is an inspiring and accessible Islamic book that beautifully combines teachings from both the Qur’an and the Hadith in a way that is easy to understand and deeply relatable to everyday life. The author has done a commendable job in presenting complex spiritual concepts in a clear and engaging manner, making it suitable for both beginners and those well-versed in Islamic studies.

After reading your book, I must say that you are correct in your analysis of the circumstances that Muslim youth face worldwide. This is because pop culture, sports, and music have a significant influence on youth not only in North America but also in all Muslim countries. Therefore, it is important to present this information to the youth on a platform that they can understand and help them realize that they must return to their own way of life, which entails beginning to practice Islam and refrain from copying or following non-Muslims. I appreciate how the book makes use of the actions and words of non-Muslims.

The book takes a very different approach to addressing the issues that mostly concern our youth and novice readers. It is incomprehensible from a distance! It is reasonable to assume that issues vary throughout the world. But the indigenous people would perceive the influence, and that's what I thought this book was most pertinent to. I sincerely hope that our young and inexperienced readers, who have the greatest access to the relevant audience, will take into consideration the reality of this book's composition. More than any other apprenticeship, tarbiyah (mentorship) is needed in these times, and this book serves as a guide for anybody looking for advice.

Knowing Shaikh Abu Shahada for several years now, I was delighted to learn that he decided to write such a book. The content of this book itself is extraordinary, the relevance and importance of the subject it covers has been widely and for long time hid and brushed under the carpet.

As Muslims moved to and lived in the west, many of the first generation are not aware about the growing challenges our Muslim Youth are facing especially those who are born and raised in the west, such as us here in Canada. Canadian Muslims, especially youth, are facing unprecedented challenges that need to be seriously and urgently addressed, among these lurching dangers, lie a great danger that's snap victims of our home, of our youth, on a daily basis.

The first step toward solving a problem is to diagnose it, to acknowledge it's existence. This book and this topic about our youth delving into the dark sides of the streets, joining gangs and other criminal groups, dealing with drugs, killing others...etc are among the challenges that seriously need to be highlighted, analyzed, and discussed in hope relevant solutions and techniques can be adopted to respond to this epidemic.

This book written by Abu Shahadah is a comprehensive cornerstone work to have a better, clear understanding of the issues our youth face in reality as they live and grow in the west and, for me, this book is a MUST HAVE for every household and every Muslim home in the west".

The allure of the forbidden is something that everyone has discouraged but without trying to understand why and how it is viewed by the most impressionable and who have the most lose. Ibn Stanley and the 7 G's takes a very different stance and attempts to dissect the allure of what the ghetto, gats, gangs, ganja, gwap and the gyal dem have on our youth.

There is no exception when I say that I have Never come across an individual, let alone a book, that takes an unfiltered appraoch to showing the destructive nature of such allure on the minds and lives of our youth.

This book, that takes the life and language off the streets, and the anthems that are praised and sung by the ghetto of what prosperity and success is, and use it as a wakeup call for communities who feel that they are insulated from such vices. This is for the youth who are tempted to the siren songs of the various 7 Gs, and are trying to 'half step'' on both sides. This book speaks to those who are knee deep in the game and charts a path of where this will eventually lead.

Be prepared to become uncomfortable. Be prepared to look in the 'mirror' that our youth gaze into when they envision what 'falah' looks like. This is the athan that calls towards desires, destruction and death. Ibn Stanley has done what an extremely few have even attempted. His unflinching look at the instruments of shaitan and their impacts should be understood and how to prepare our Imaan against such a consistent onslaught.

Leafing through this book, its immediately evident that it refuses to play by the rules, of neat words, in neat lines, meant to lull the person to sleep. Neither does it sound like a patronizing 'uncle' who is there to brow beat the reader into another 'lecture.' This book is lyrical and poetic, and waves a story of both the author's upbringing, testimony, influence, credibility, and the impact of guidance from All Mighty Allah.

I recently finished reading this book, and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. The interactive elements were brilliantly woven into the content, keeping me fully engaged from start to finish. It wasn’t just a passive read; it felt like a dynamic conversation that challenged my thinking and kept me involved every step of the way. The way the author structured the book made it feel less like traditional reading and more like an immersive experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something that stimulates both the mind and senses!

-Imam Humiaz

He has altered how books are presented in the contemporary era. This action  guide had me so engaged. The breadth of knowledge I gained about Islam and the skill with which he employed contemporary culture to hold my attention reveal a great deal about his understanding of reality and the society in which we live. I heartily urge educators and young people to read this outstanding work.
